Easter weekend

Nila is still poorly ill,
Mister Kay is painting the living room doors,
I'm reading... reading and reading.

We forgot to buy chocolate Easter eggs (how could we???)
Our TV highlight: the Voice UK.
Staying inside, it's still too cold in the moment.
Thinking about healthy green smoothies
Have been eating too much sugar the last couple of days.

see you,
Kay

slow

Our days are slow in the moment but I really like that.

Got a nice Easter branch from my neighbor this morning.
The vintage ceramic vase I had from my brother some time ago.
He is really good in finding wonderful ceramic pieces.
The paper decoration was a gift from Jurianne Matter.

There is still lots of time to paint some eggs later this afternoon.
Also I should make my food shopping list (mmmmmh) and then hit the shops!!

How are you spending your Easter days???

see you
Kay

less is more

Mister Kay got this coffee set from the last market.
I love the simple look, but I think the cups are more for tea or black coffee.
Does anybody know this set or have information about it?

The last couple of days Nila and I had the flu. Noticed we both recover only very slowly.
With Easter approaching I hope we will feel better soon.
Lots of lazy ideas and plans for the Easter days. Still got a whole pill of magazines to read.
Just need to get some good chocolates eggs.

enjoy your break,
Kay

@home

Another nice find from last weekend. A pretty little bag chandelier for our bed room.

I paid a bit of money for these large daffodils but then I can plant them in my garden in a couple of weeks.

Did I tell you Ikea stopped selling the Jonsberg vases from Hella Jongerius. They are definitely a design classic.

Kay

PS: Last weekend the David Bowie exhibition opened in  the Victoria and Albert Museum. A must see for all vintage lovers.

Spring flea market

Globus 2026, a german globe from the 60s made by Michael Seidel.

Dinnerware set 'Jubilant' designed by Wim de Vries in 1958 and produced by Fris Edam

This hanging planter is a so called Keramobile designed by Jaap Ravelli in the 70s.

Decorative plate from the 50s.

Yesterday the flea market season started. It was a really cold, grey and windy day and I was feeling very sorry for the market sellers.

As you can see I had a wonderful day vintage hunting. My fav find is a yellow & black bread box from the 50s and  my most valuable find is a record from the Small Faces.

Any one else went to a flea market this weekend??

see you,
Kay

PS: Christo in Oberhausen  Has anybody been there yet? If so let us know if it's worth a visit.

Store without a home

In the moment I'm really in to mixing vintage with modern design. That is what I like about Store without a home, a cool little shop close to the Central Station in Amsterdam. It's a shop full of energy, colors and ideas. I always find a gift there.

see you,
Kay

PS: On my wish list the white porcelain lantern lamp.

Favorite blog of the week: Журнал Жителей Жучков (in Russian but I love her photography).

Lungo

Lungo designed by David Grosemans

A couple of days ago I got myself a stylish water can for the garden.

This weekend the first spring flea markets are starting here. I'm looking forward to go vintage hunting again. It will be fun trying to wake up the rest of the family early on the weekend.

see you
Kay

Adrian Tomine

Adrian Tomine's book New York Drawings is one of my favorites. So when I saw this print in a window of an antiquarian bookshop in Leiden I got really exited.

Guess I should start saving some money because the owner wants 200 euros for it. A lot of money but probably a good investment, and besides, I truly love it!

see you,
Kay

Walden Woods

On our way home from Mister Kay's birthday trip we stopped at Walden Woods, a little shop selling garden ornaments. The shop is only open two days a week so make sure you check the opening times.

I totally love the bird on the last picture, it looks so fifties.

Kim, the owner, is really nice. I'm sure I will be back for the bird and some more coffee.

see you soon,
Kay

PS: Last night we watched Searching for Sugar Man, an amazing documentary. Sixto Rodriguez is coming to Amsterdam in May but unfortunately tickets are sold out already. What a shame.

Sukha

I could easily live in Sukha. A wonderful store in the heart of Amsterdam full of amazing  clothes, bags, blankets and interior goodies.

If you're thinking of coming to town just visit this place.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

see you,

Copper colored glass bottle.
Got a new print from the amazing Hugh Ribbans.

Flowers can lift one's mood.
Old-fashioned pink Carnations.

We went to an auction a couple of weeks ago. Where I managed to get August made for Iittala in 2006. Have you been to an auction?

Weekend is on the way. Only a couple of days to go.

mini terrarium

What a cold and windy day, I did not feel like going outside at all. Started to recycle some of my plastic water bottles and made a mini terrarium for my kitchen.

I should look for some different shape plastic bottles in the morning so I can make some more.

Make sure you keep warm,
Kay

Pastoe

For all the Pastoe lovers there is a nice little exhibition at the Kunsthal in Rotterdam celebrating the company's 100th anniversary.

We got two vintage chairs from them (see last photo) but they have made lots more really nice furniture in the past and I do like their new sortiment as well.

Goliath Sportswear

On my wishing list is the Bird bagpack from Herschel Supply. They sell it at Goliath Sportswear in Rotterdam.

The shop has an beautiful vintage interior. Love the Poul Cadovius wall unit. It would look amazing in my livingroom.  I should buy one myself...

Coffee beans, records and cool shoes are also in stock.

candle sticks

I love mixing up my vintage accessories. My favorite candlesticks I got from Merle some time ago. They look a bit like Rolf from Maria L Dahlenberg. Maybe one day I'll find some more.

Mister  Kay also found himself some candle sticks at the flea market in Germany. He prefers them in wood color. These are made in former East Germany.

Tell me which ones you prefer?

Hope you are having a good week.

Kay

PS: Last weekend I bought myself a cd from August Pablo.
