the day after

Had a little garden party with my book club yesterday.
The weather held just in time to get everybody home dry.

I really enjoy decorating my home and garden.
Love to mix and match my vintage china collection.

Hope you are all doing well? Enjoy the weekend.

see you,
Kay

PS: Anna's vintage blog is pretty cool

fifties feeling

Wish I wasn't so lazy to maintain my daily fifties look.
Just the idea that I have to cut my fringe every 3 weeks and
I'm not very good in finding vintage clothes (I mean those pretty pretty dresses).

I met this really nice rockabilly couple in Rye. Sure I'll see them again.

Debbie (on the first photo) always wears amazing dresses, so beautiful .

Kay

PS: I'll be at the Sunday market this weekend. Say hi if you are there too.

The Crow's Nest

We had a nice break at the Crow's Nest apartment (wonderful place full of cool art) in Rye.

Rye is a great place for vintage full of antique and vintage shops.
Great location for some day trips to Brighton and Hastings Old Town.

see you

Kay

PS: don't want to think about autumn in the moment, trying to hold on to the Endless summer.

oh happy vintage day

On the way to Berlin we had a coffee stop at Merle's place.
Mister Kay took some fantastic photos in her home.

I feel like a big  kid in a candy shop there.
Always enjoy Merle's company. We can talk vintage for hours.

see you,
Kay

PS: I watched The Virgin Suicides (beautiful and timeless, a must-see)

too many cookies

After a long summer break it is not easy
to be back to work (school) life.

Our first week went well. It was
fun to see our friends, teachers and colleagues again.
Also it was time for me to go back to the GYM
(I just had too many cookies in the last couple of weeks)

Any plans for the weekend???

see you soon
Kay

PS:
- Finally started to read Spitalfields Life
- I have a new fav magazine: Anthology
(which I can get now in Amsterdam at the newsagent, cool)

let's go to Brighton town

When we lived in London we used to go to Brighton on weekends (often called London by sea). It only takes an hour from London to Brighton by train.

I still love the buzz I get walking through town. Great shops. Also I love the people. Some of them really make an effort to dress up.

This time Mister Kay and I spent most of our time there record hunting. I tell you there are lots of record stores. Resident was my fav one.

Kay

Great Dixter

Great Dixter, the garden from Christopher Lloyd, is a little paradise that will make you happy and gives you a wonderful color boost.

We had a great day there and I could easily spend a week or longer there. Came home with some new ideas for my garden and my work.

Ps:
Watched Pretty in Pink last weekend. What a cute feelgood movie.
Also I'm watching  The Great British Bake Off.

bloomers

This weekend it's very hot for Dutch standards (35 °C).

Not sure if Bloomers are the right outfit for this kind of  tropical heat but they look cute with a pretty summer dress. You can get them at The Whiting Post.

Tell me how are you keeping cool?? Any good tips?

see you
Kay

PS: I want Mr Roe blush

Whitstable vintage

I had no plans to go to Whistable last weekend but sometimes plans are changing. So we had to visit Valentines , our fav vintage shop at the seaside. They had Miss Wong in the shop for a great price, a must have for all vintage fans.

Enjoy your weekend (last days of our summer holidays).

see you
Kay

PS: If you are in Whitstable in the week from 22.08 to 28.08 go visit my friends Zoe, Karen and Vicky at the Show Off Gallery in Harbour Street.

Hastings - sea side carnival

I spent last week glued to the sports coverage and I really enjoyed watching the games with friends but we found time to go to the Summer Carnival in Hastings. If you love pirates and mermaids then this is the place to be.

The weather was fantastic and it was lots of fun to watch it.

see you
Kay

PS: Just ordered myself a copy of Betty magazine.

Brighton Wheel

If you have time to go to Brighton this summer you will love the new Brighton Wheel.

Make sure you have some coffee & cake at Temptation. Peter the owner loves knitting. He knitted his own version of the Brighton Wheel, which looks amazing.

enjoy

Kay

PS: I love Nikki McWilliams cushions, the Tunnock's Teacake cushion is my fav one.

wish you were here

  • sipping tea outside in the garden with friends
  • walking on the beach early in the morning
  • drinking Elderflower Sodas
  • collecting stones on the beach
  • staying up late and talking all night
wishing you were here.

enjoy the sun,

Kay

PS: Broadstairs (reminding me of St. Ives) is a small town on the Kent coast with a wonderful beach.

moving in

We had some new vintage moving in to the house. The beautiful print from sir Gerald Kelly's painting got the best place in the living room.

Red wooden candle stick from Denmark. Looking for more...

Yellow tea set from KPM and a new vase from Anton Piesche.

As you can see we found some wonderful vintage pieces the last couple of weeks.

I also swapped a few items with my fav vintage lady...

enjoy the weekend.

Kay

PS : Signing off now. Wishing you all a great week. We are going to the UK and I'm so excited to see my friends, watch the games  and...and...
