Tomado

Tomado was a dutch company established in 1923 in Dordrecht. After the war they became very succesful producing small household equipement. Their major success where these metal wall units. The colourfull shelves were inspired by Rietveld and Mondriaan.

These are some of my Tomado wall units. I love the colours of the shelves. They come in red, yellow, grey and blue.

Very soon the new album of 2raumwohnung is released. I can hardly wait...

they look great! very similar to "string" shelves, although I think the string shelves were born a little later :-)

That shelving is AMAZING!

actually, the string-system dates back to '48 or so, predating the tomado (and pilastro) editions by 10 years.
string is made with solid wood shelves and are far more rare and collectable.
I have several tomado units (both in metal as teak) but still looking out for that string one.
