headscarf

I met this lovely Russian lady in Amsterdam the other day. She was really sticking out with her vintage look. Have you ever tried a headscarf? I must admit I really like the Kelly Wrap. Maybe I should give it go and see if I can find a nice vintage scarf.

see you,
Kay

The Goods Shed

The Goods Shed in Canterbury is my cup of tea. After living in Italy  for some years I do miss some of the food. There is an Italian bakery and they bake daily fresh bread and cakes .We are really in to jam and co, they have a wonderful selection. Great  place for me to shop and for Mister kay to have a good cup of coffee.

Enjoy your weekend,
Kay

Black walls

Every time I visit my friend Shelly's amazing  home I realize how much I like the way she has been playing with colors. Her black walls look so elegant and make her home feel very cozy. I brought back some paint for our living room but we are not ready for  a dark home yet (I hope one day...).

At the moment there are a couple of new and very interesting interior books out.
Just got myself a copy of Abigail Ahern.

Also on my list Vintage Home by Pearl Lowe.

see you,
 Kay

PS: still time to join my giveaway

Beefeater plates

At the car boot sale a couple of weeks ago I was
lucky to find a whole set of Beefeater longhorn bull dinner plates.
They are made by English Ironstone Pottery in the 70's.
The colors are very psychedelic.

More plates... for the summer in the garden I found a set of
Gaydon Melmex plates from the 1960's.

see you soon,
Kay

Shabby Apple giveaway

The last couple of months I have been very interested in vintage dresses and I noticed they are not easy to find. So I was delighted when the folks from Shabby Apple asked me to host a dress giveaway. I like their vintage clothing inspired range.

One of the reasons why I like Shabby Apple as a company: they donate a percentage of their profit to women's charities.

I picked Snapdragon for you because it's a dress you could wear for a vintage festival and beautiful summer days.To win the dress just leave me a comment.

The dress will be shipped anywhere in the world.
I will pick a winner next Sunday the 26 of May.

Good luck,
Kay

perfect day

A little bit of sun would make our day but
then it looks like my palm trees love the rain.
Most of our palms we've grown from cuttings we
brought back from Cornwall years ago.

My friend Iris brought me some tulips.
I must say they look amazing.

Enjoying our Bank Holiday having a lazy day. Perfect day to read and make some plans for the summer. Also I have a huge pile of magazines to catch up with.

see you soon,
Kay

Boskke Sky Planter

Finally I managed to find  a Boskke Sky Planter.  I wanted one for a long time for our living room. There is a tiny shop in the heart of Amsterdam which called Hear Hear which sells them.

I keep you posted how I get on with my Sky Planter (great the name).

We also made some hanging basket for the Garden Which was fun, but they really need some sun and warmth. I'll show you some pictures when they are a bit more established.

Enjoy a nice long weekend,
Kay

PS: Sarah Moore's new book looks amazing.

Beachside Brocante

From now on the Beachside Brocante in Deal on the first Bank holiday in May is my favorite vintage hunting ground. There where so many interesting stalls. One of my best buys that day was a green Fiesta jug.

Make sure you put that date in your calender for next year.

see you,
Kay

wooden spoons

Not sure why but wooden spoons make my heart beat faster. I just love them. Jill Swan& Louis Ellis had a wonderful show at the Horsebridge. Jill is also giving workshop  spoon carving, guess Mister Kay would enjoy that very much.

I was lucky to take one spoon home ,they were selling so fast.

Marti Murchison

Marti had her wonderful pop-up store at the Show Off Gallery in Whitstable last week. I must say her little shop looked amazing. I fell a bit in love with the blue dress, very much Laura Ashley Style.

She will be back in November with some other friends of mine, so if you are around make sure you pay her a visit to have a look for yourself.

see you,
Kay

PS: Lounge on the farm, on my summer list.

floppy summer hats

Hi There,

We had two fantastic weeks. I think this was our best holiday in a long time. We enjoyed lots of simple pleasures:
  • daily long family beach walks
  • lots of tea
  • going plant hunting (driving home with a car full of plants & vintage)
  • visiting the vintage fair at the beach in Deal (the location was amazing)
  • meeting friends
  • enjoying the sun (finally I could wear my floppy summer hats)

Lot's more soon. Now it's time to unpack the suitcases and do some washing.

see you,
Kay and family

PS: Our music in the car the last couple of days the new CD from Caro Emerald.
