Sinterklaas also has a helper Black Pete, who slides down chimneys to fill the

My mother was born in Holland (she's half Dutch, half French) and the old traditions still light a spark in my heart. I am celebrating today by decorating the tree with my daughter!
I'm still love your blog!!
Peace & Love
Agneta, the swedish one...
Presents in shoes? Amazing. Very small presents, or very big shoes: either way I wish I lived there. :)
Hey, you were in Leiden! I live there!
happy sinterklaas! :)
we are having nikolaus tomorrow here in germany... used to be so exciting when i was little and we put our boots out the night before to find sweets in them the next morning!
Oh this looks like it was so much fun!
What a sweet tradition!!
And we had such fun!
happy holidays to you and yours...
{the shoes tradition sounds very similar to a puerto rican ritual, celebrating tres reyes/three kings (january 6th)}
I think this is a wonderful tradition for children. hope you all had a nice day :)
sweet!
Happy Day to you as well!!
My children left their shoes out and received chocolate coins and fruit : )
A wonderful and 'majestic' sinterklaas!
Wat een leuke sinterklaas foto.s heb hem hier in Zweden wel gemist hoor dit jaar!
Sinterclaas' in Holland look a whole lot more authentic than the current ring-in Santa Claus imposters around here! I'm having to make up all manner of cover stories.
