This is my favourite lamp. It looks cool in the daytime but it is really stunning after dark. Normally we have a white one hanging in this spot but for this picture I specially put up the our new purple one.
It is designed in 1958 by the Danish designer Poul Henningsen and it's name is PH5. Henningsen disliked the blinding glare of the light bulb so he wanted to develop a lamp that gave the same glare as an old fashioned petroleum lamp. That resulted in the PH-range of lamp designs. This PH5 is the most successful design (and my favourite).
The PH5 lamps have always been produced by Louis Poulsen. They are still producing it but not in this beautiful purple.
we are back to normal life again after two weeks holidays .
YOkoo is so cool and I just love her work

Hi Kay,
I have also a lot of danish books. They are much better than the germans.
I love your lamp!! I would like to have one too, but they are soooo expensive. Do you know the new ones in green and light blue? They are so nice!
Sally
Love your new header! Happy New Year!
Love your lamp and hope to have one someday. Right now I have a David Trubridge Coral pendant light (that I made myself - yah me!) and I love that one too. It cast really cool shadows on the ceiling.

Such a shame they're not producing it in purple anymore. You're very lucky!

I adore that lamp, but it is a bit more expensive for me...
I love it just in white...I bought one this Christmas...I think it is in my flickr...it is not so beautiful, it is I think, more warm...take a look and let me know.
I'd love a purple lamp that gave the soft glare of a petroleum lamp! Beautiful find!

Hello hello Kay - this is such a gorgeous lamp. I wish I could see what it looks like at night, or when it's on? Your description of the light intrigues me... I just had a look at the link for Poulsen. Nice colour options, but I agree - the purple is way awesome! :)
It's the first purple lamp I have ever seen, and what a beauty it is! I love your new banner, Kay, it's very you!
