spring cleaning

 

There was a little bit of sun this afternoon when I got home.

My first idea was to spend some time in the garden

but after 10 minutes I realized it was still too cold.

 

So I started a little bit of my spring cleaning 

but then the sun was gone and

my cleaning mood disappeared.

Last week I visited Subba in Nijmegen.

 

They have so many cool lamps, the copper ones on the first photo are my favourite.

 

Lots of nice home decor. I specially like the cushion with Charles and Diana.

 

Definitely a shop you could spend you time and money.

winter garden

I guess a grey Sunday afternoon in February is the perfect time to make some plans for the garden. We need a new fence and I want some more sea side plants and palm trees in the garden.

Thinking of going to visit Sarah Ravens Perch Hill garden in May. Guess that will give me some new ideas. Not sure if I will put a bed in my garden but I did like this idea we saw in dutch gardening center Intratruin last week.

We are back... just needed a little break

A week full of sleep, music and cake.

 

Sleep: I have been very tired the last couple of weeks, so it was wonderful not to get up every morning at 6:30.

 

Cake: Lot's of cake.It was my birthday. Mister Kay, my friend and  my neighbour where all bringing me cake.

 

Music: All week nonstop.

This week I had the change to meet

Christien Meindertsma at a lecture at Villa Augustus.

She is amazing and full of energy. I'm a huge fan of her work.

 I also got her Loes Veenstra book. Have a look

at the cool sweater movie she made.

Will be nice to see what Christien is doing next.

Hutspot

In the last couple of weeks I frequently had coffee at Hutspot, a concept store in the heart of Amsterdam. The owners are 4 really friendly guys. They sell vintage, clothes, books and some nice home accessories. At the second floor they have a great coffee place and some really good cakes.

If you like to know what Hutspot means have a look here, definitely not my fav food.

Next time when you are in town you should have a look.

No Valentine's gift this year...

I was thinking about a trip to Paris but I know you don´t like Paris.

I was thinking about a book but I know you don't like my kind of books.

I was thinking about flowers but I guess you will bring me some flowers.

I was thinking about special coffee beans but then you´re not easy with coffee.

I was thinking about a vintage camera but then you got so many.

I was thinking about a pet but then we got four cats.

I was thinking about some records but then you just went shopping for records.

I was thinking about a print but then I got you one last year.

 

mmmh I could give you a big kiss and bake you a cake...??

PS: Any plans for Valentine's Day?

metal bowls

 Hema has some pretty white metal bowls out in the moment.

They look a bit like little vintage Krenit bowls but these are white on the outside and a bit taller from shape.

They come in 6 colors, the soft yellow and mint are my fav. In the dark and with the candles lit the colors look much darker.

 I liked them so much that I got 6 of them.

Hope you all had a good weekend.

Most Monday mornings I start my week with a  

 trip to the Gym. So I can start my week full of energy.

I realize that we have to do lots of paint work in the house.The living room floor is also on our list. But in the moment I prefer to plan my next holidays.

I love records

 

On Saturday mornings on my way to the bakery I often stop a the charity shop to look for some records. On my wishing list are Rocksteady, Ska and Reggae (not easy to find).

 

In the summer sitting in the garden I like to play a lot of easygoing Cool jazz from musicians like Nat King Cole, Dave Brubeck, Louis Armstrong. I noticed they have the most amazing covers. You could easy frame them and hang them on the wall 

 

Enjoy you Sunday and put some music on.

My work was just around the corner.

After a week full of love, good talks, happiness, rain, coffee, cake, yoga and travelling I'm looking forward to have a nice quite family weekend.

 

This Friday was a lucky one for me.

I won a 'Paradise is now' cushion from Philuko.

I really admire Julia's work and I'm sure the cushion will fit perfect in our home.

Yellow is the color of gold, butter or ripe lemons.
That sounds so good!

I planted spring bulbs in vintage kitchen bowls. Guess I´ll get some more bulbs this weekend.

This week:

• Mister Kay and I have been addicted to West Wing
• eating lots of toast
• drinking tony´s chocolonely chocolate milk
• did buy some small metal bowls at the HEMA, they look a bit like Krenit bowls
• reading Amsterdamenjoy, a wonderful city magazine

Concertgebouw Cafe

 

I don't have a single favorite cafe (I travel a lot).

However I have a couple of cafes I really love,

The Concertgebouw Cafe is one of them.

 

They have an amazing atmosphere,

friendly staff, good food and great coffee.

ShowUP

We had a look at ShowUP, a new dutch retailer trade show.The atmosphere was really nice and there where some interesting new products one show.

We had a great day and met some interesting and friendly people. In the next couple of days I'll show some of the products I really liked.

It's good to see that more and more Scandinavian brands are finding their way to the Netherlands.
